Like all surgeries, laser eye surgery too has its own risks. No surgery is ever ‘risk free’. Certain complications arise, and in some cases, people suffer certain conditions after laser eye surgery. If you are contemplating laser eye surgery, you are well advised to know the risks involved:

Improper focusing of light

Laser eye surgery is centered on the pupil and any de-centered incision will result in improper focusing of light. Many lasers have an eye-tracking beam to reduce any possibility of de-centered ablation.

Accelerating cataract clouding

Although a natural occurrence brought on by age, cataract – the clouding of the crystalline lens – can be brought on faster by the invasive laser eye surgery.

Under correction due to room temperature

Temperature and humidity of the laser room, hydration of the cornea during surgery and calibration of laser could result in under-correction. This would require additional laser treatment after three months to allow the results to stabilize. Though rare, over-correction can change a myopic condition to a hyperopic condition. This too can be corrected with a further surgery.

Astigmatism

Some times surgery can cause Astigmatism. Although the reasons are not known, the alignment of the patient’s eye and uniformity of the laser beam could be the reasons. This can be corrected by glasses or gas permeable contact lenses.

Loss of visual acuity

There could be loss of visual acuity. Assume that a pre-operative vision of 20/400 without glasses and contact lenses, and a 20/20 vision with them, improves after laser surgery to 20/30 without glasses and contact lenses, and 20/20 vision with thinner glasses and contact lenses. You would have lost visual acuity if the 20/30 post surgery vision cannot be improved even with glasses and contact lenses. This may happen in 5% of the low to medium Myopia patients.

Corneal haze condition

You could develop a corneal haze, a ground-glass like appearance, after laser eye surgery. A minor haze could be taken care with anti-inflammatory eye drops. A more dense haze may require re-surgery.

Decrease in night time vision

You may experience a decrease in night time vision, halos and star bursts etc. There may be reduced brightness and glare. In very rare cases, there is always a possibility of blindness and a probable sight-threatening infection, endophthalmitis.

Laser eye surgery is normally safe, but there is always a risk of post-operative infections. Normally, these do not have long term complications, and are usually treated with eye drops. If undecided about the risks of laser eye surgery, discuss the pros and cons with your ophthalmologist.

Have you looked into your medical insurance policy lately? Does it cover such things as; Lasik eye surgery, glasses or catastrophic eye problems? Most medical policies do not have these coverages. Even the best medical coverage policies do not always cover such things. Perhaps you need to look into vision insurance and see if you can get the coverage you may need in case of problems with your eyes.

Of course you will need to talk to an expert insurance and it is best to talk with someone before such issues with your vision arise. One eye insurance policy I looked into had a monthly membership fee which was nominal and low deductibles too. I asked my insurance person about this and she told me she had even a better plan that what I had found searching on the Internet, which tells me that shopping around makes a lot of sense.

First, review your current medical policy, then study what is available on the Internet a little and then once you have a pretty good handle on it write down a list of serious questions to ask and get the answers you need from an insurance expert.

Sometimes employer medical plans include such things, but not always and for us self-employed folks well we are clearly on our own when it comes to such things, but we must not forget our eyes.

Running a business blind is truly visionless indeed. I certainly hope this article is of interest and that is has propelled thought. The goal is simple; to help you in your quest to be the best in 2007. I thank you for reading my many articles on diverse subjects, which interest you.

The purposes of oils are more than just for automobile lubricants and kitchen ingredients. Oils can heal people physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Egyptians and priests used oils to heal people of their ailments and then documented the event.

Not only can oils heal, but they are organic too. Organic oils range farther than just olive juice. Egyptians used organic essential oils like frankincense and myrrh. These organic essential oils protected them from infections. Frankincense protected the eyes while myrrh protected the skin and made it soft.

Anointing oil physically can heal things that are acute or severe. Oils can relieve mild things like headaches, coughs, and sore muscles. It is also powerful enough to heal wounds, broken bones, pneumonia, and bronchitis.

Anointing with oil is most known as a technique used in a spiritual re-birthing ceremony, but it is broader than that. Anointing with oil is to rub or stroke the area that is out of balance, in pain, wounded, or inflamed. Another way to anoint with oil is to make a concoction that is drank to get to deep wounds or pain.

Using oils to relieve pain goes all the way back to biblical times. Priests and healers knew the value of oils and used them. They also kept documentation of different uses for different oils.

Egyptians were similar to priests and healers. Egyptians kept a record of their uses. There are hundreds of these recipes and antidotes of concoctions that were used to heal ailments.

Oils can also be used to anoint one’s mental, emotional, and spiritual state. Since these three are an intangible objects, anointing is done through incense. Incense allows the oil to reach the aura or energy field of the individual and bring them back into peace and harmony.

If you need healing; whether that is physically, mentally, emotionally, or spiritually, try anointing yourself with a specified essential oil. Priests and Egyptians practiced it and felt that it worked enough to document it. Oils purposes go farther than just lubricants and ingredients.

What is conjunctivitis?

The conjunctiva is a clear, thin membrane which stretches between your eyelid and your eye. It is what prevents contact lenses from being lost behind a wearers eyeball. Conjunctivitis is an inflammation of this membrane. There are three major types of conjunctivitis: viral, bacterial and allergic. This article will discuss these three types of conjunctivitis and explain how they may be treated.

What are the symptoms of conjunctivitis / how do you diagnose conjunctivitis?

You may have conjunctivitis if you experience any of the following symptoms:

Itchiness Redness Sensitivity to light Swelling of your eyelids

If you experience any of the above symptoms of conjunctivitis you should stop wearing your contact lenses immediately. Wearing contact lenses whilst suffering from conjunctivitis can cause damage to the cornea of your eye so please make sure you don’t take any unnecessary risks by continuing to wear your contact lenses.

If you consider any of your symptoms severe you should book an appointment to see your GP / Optician. When you visit your GP / Optician, he / she will carefully examine your eyes and check for swelling or tenderness around your jaw and ears. Your GP / Optician may also take a sample of liquid from your eyes in order to test what types of infection is present.

How do you treat the different forms of conjunctivitis?

Viral conjunctivitis eventually goes away on its own, even if it isn’t treated. Your GP / Optician may however prescribe eye drops to help to manage your symptoms. Antihistamine pills may also help to relieve the itchiness. Viral conjunctivitis usually gets worse for around a week after the first symptoms. It usually gets better after between ten days and a month.

Bacterial conjunctivitis is treated with antibiotic eye drops. These eye-drops help to wash your eyes gently. Bacterial conjunctivitis normally improves in less than two days after antibiotic eye-drops are first used. If after three days of applying antibiotic drops to your eyes the conjunctivitis has not cleared up then you should book an appointment with your GP / Optician.

Allergic conjunctivitis should be treated by first ensuring you are no longer exposed to the allergen. Once this is achieved, the symptoms should reduce naturally. Antihistamine tablets or certain eye drops may sometimes be prescribed to speed up the process.

Is there anything I can do to reduce the chances of getting conjunctivitis?

There are a few precautionary steps that contact lens wearers can take to reduce the chances of getting conjunctivitis. Please always:

Wash your hands frequently and thoroughly Avoid excessively rubbing your eyes Avoid sharing eye makeup or cosmetics Do not share towels or washcloths with others

By following the advice above you should reduce the risk of catching conjunctivitis. However, if you do think you are suffering from conjunctivitis and it is not clearing up then it is essential that you stop wearing your contact lenses and visit your GP / Optician.

One of the biggest benefits with laser eye surgery reviews is to determine just when Lasik may not be suitable for you. Lasik has been a wonderful innovation yes, but did you know everyone who thinks they need it may not be eligible for varying reasons. Pre-operation tests will normally discount you as a candidate if there is a chance you’ll suffer serious implications if you go ahead with the procedure.

This article is intended for those in the “thinking stages” regarding Lasik. We’ll give you some possible reasons why you may not be a good fit. As far as laser eye surgery reviews, this one will definitely not be sugar-coated.

When Lasik May Not Suit You

1. If you have serious problems or are considered too much of a risk then you will not qualify. A Lasik surgeon won’t jeopardize your health or their livelihood by taking unnecessary risks. If they do, then run a mile.

2. Refractive procedures are frowned upon in some professions. It’s just a fact of life. Some professions have strict rules about refractive surgery so it may just pay to check with your employer if Lasik will affect your position with your company.

3. If you have had one or more prescription changes to your eyewear during a 12 month period then you could be considered a risk for Lasik eye surgery. Why? Changes in prescription generally indicates a little instability which could be viewed as a worrying sign for surgeons.

4. Your age will determine whether you’re eligible for Lasik. If you’re less than 18 then you won’t be considered. Some surgeons may not even consider you if you’re in your early twenties however, don’t dismiss the possibility until you’ve spoken with them.

5. If you suffer from any medical conditions or are taking medications then this could prevent you from qualifying for Lasik. Any worthwhile laser eye surgery reviews should clearly state this as many patients have had to forfeit their procedures because of this. Don’t hold anything back during the consultation stage because the more your surgeon knows about you the better chance you have of experiencing a successful outcome.

For people struggling with trying to find effective treatments for problems with the skin around their eyes, I’m happy to report recent scientific breakthroughs can finally make your search easier and more effective. Having been one of these frustrated consumers, my own dark circles under eye treatment reviews revealed the information I needed to finally get the results I was looking for. Please keep reading if you’d like to benefit from what I learned.

The Problem

You see, your frustration with the majority of eye creams and serums comes from the poor ingredients used to make up these products.

Long ago, cosmetic companies figured out they could make tons of money by using very cheap chemicals (about a nickel-a-jar) which were easy to combine into creamy, pleasant-smelling substances which could be called anything they wanted: moisturizer, firming lotion, under eye serum, wrinkle cream, anti-aging, etc.

Now, all they had to do was hire the best advertising agencies to design expensive, glamorous advertising campaigns and, POW!, they were in business. It didn’t matter that these chemicals did nothing to improve the skin. All they had to do was keep renaming their jars-of-junk and get a popular actress or model to say the product helped them solve their skin problem.

This practice has worked so well that, even after 50 years, cosmetic companies still use it to keep raking in their millions.

What’s Changed?

But in this day and age of educated consumers, these business practices are beginning to wear thin. People are demanding more of their skin care products.

Fortunately, this demand is being met by up-and-coming skin care companies who are committed to the finest research and development of products which support the underlying health of the skin.

The Solution

So here is where recent scientific breakthroughs come in. The scientists who work for these small companies work from the premise that since the skin is natural, it stands to reason it needs natural substances to support a healthy condition and appearance.

When the skin is unhealthy, it means the underlying cell structure has become damaged. Too much sun and pollutants exposure leaves cells unable to manufacture the structural substances which support a firm, smooth tone and texture.

This damage has serious implications for the delicate, thin skin of the eye area. Without enough collagen and elastin circulation slows, capillaries become fragile and leaky, and normal fluid drainage backs up. Ultimately, dark circles form, along with, bags and puffy skin.

Scientists have discovered a remarkable healing ability present in natural proteins, enzymes, plant-based oils and emollients, vitamins and peptides. Because these substances have a molecular structure similar to human skin, they easily penetrate and access the deepest cellular levels to deliver stimulating nutrients.

As a result, normal cell function is restored leading to significant increases in collagen and elastin production, boosted antioxidant activity, and plenty of new cell growth.

With the fabric of the skin around the eyes reinforced, circulation increases, capillaries stop leaking and drainage improves, getting rid of excess fluid and accumulated pools of reddish-blue hemoglobin.

So there you have it…the results of my personal dark circles under eye treatment reviews. Now that you know about the exciting scientific breakthroughs proven to support the health and appearance of the skin around your eyes, what’s your next step? Why don’t you visit my web site to get more details about the specific natural extracts identified, tested and recommended by skin care researchers to put new life into the skin under your eyes.

With so many cases in eye defects there might be a possibility that you or any loved one of yours is seeking for laser treatment. The other name for lasik treatment is the refractive surgery which focuses on the correction of vision. It results in clear vision, that too, without any uncomfortable specs or contact lenses. It is very obvious to have several questions in the mind about the procedure before the actual surgery. Many regional centre like Lasik Denver provides free consultancy to sort out all the queries in the candidate’s mind.

Am I a good candidate, how can the treatment be scheduled in our busy routines, is the laser procedure wallet-friendly and is the it the right decision to serve my requirements? These are some questions that generally arise in a candidate’s mind and the solution lies in Denver’s eye institute. Being an adult and some pre-surgery tests answers the question of being an apt candidate. Laser eye surgery only needs 15 minutes for both eyes and one can resume driving in 24 hours along with few post-surgery precautions. This solves another query of the candidate. The surgery costs generally varies from 1000$ to 1500$ per eye. Even if it does not suits the candidates pocket, the 0% financing terms of helps him to get through it. The right procedure is generally suggested by the experts which suits the requirements of the candidate. Hence, this experts den always provides with all the solution of the queries.

Apart from lasik and refractive surgery, this experts den, provide treatment cataract, Glaucoma, Cornea Repair and other eye conditions. Cataract has always been a major reason of vision loss among aged people. Though it is a natural phenomenon, it is curable in modern world.

You may fall into either of the two categories: you have perfect eyesight and will not need prescription glasses or treatment/surgery for vision in the next several years. Or you either currently have poor eyesight or may develop some vision problems in the near future. Unfortunately, people belonging to the former category are almost impossible to find these days, what with the increased strain put on the eyes by our modern lifestyle where most of our time is spent before TV and computer screens. If you belong to the latter category, you would definitely benefit a great deal by investing in individual vision insurance.

What exactly is individual vision insurance? To explain in simple terms, it is an added benefit that can be purchased in addition to your regular health insurance. It costs only a few dollars each month (around $15-20 for most providers) and covers a variety of benefits. These range from providing coverage for visits to an eye doctor, partial coverage for eye glasses/lenses, and even surgical procedures such as LASIK.

Anybody who has suffered from poor vision knows how expensive the above mentioned treatment options can be. A single visit to the optician for a routine pair of glasses can set you back by a couple of hundred dollars. For most people, this is prohibitively out of reach. Fortunately, by paying your insurance company just a few dollars extra each month, you can cut costs dramatically on these services.

In most cases, your individual vision insurance provider will be separate from your primary insurance provider, although you should be able to find a plan that offers both. One of the biggest vision insurance providers in the United States is VSP and it works in partnerships with various insurance providers to avail you of its services. If you get your insurance through your employer, you should be able to obtain vision insurance as an added benefit without any trouble, though you may have to pay for it through your own pocket (which is a minor expense compared to the possible benefits).

For people who have poor vision, or may suffer from it in the near future, individual vision insurance is a must have that can dramatically cut costs from regular visits to the eye doctor, prescription glasses, lenses, and surgical treatments.

Lazy eye, also known as cross eye or strabismus, is a very common vision problem and the most common treatment for it is to wear corrective glasses. Though wearing glasses is an effective way to treat lazy eye, people wearing glasses will tell you that using glasses can be cumbersome and even awkward.

There are other cures for lazy eye than just wearing corrective glasses. In fact, there is one all-natural method that has been proven to be effective in treating almost all kinds of eye problems and this method is called the Bates Method which is named after its creator, Dr. William Horatio Bates, an ophthalmologist who practiced during the early parts of the 1930s.

To cure lazy eye as well as other vision problems, Dr. Bates recommends doing a series of eye exercises that takes away the stress and pressure from the eyes. Like other holistic forms of treatments, the Bates method believes that the problems of one part of the body cannot be separated from the problems of the other parts. This means that eye problems are caused by ailments of other parts of the body as well as the mind.

Psychology also plays a very important role in eye health according to the Bates method. The state of mind of an individual can greatly affect his/her vision. Stress is seen as one of the main causes of eye problems and this is the reason why most of the exercises outlined in the Bates method are meant to relax the mind and the body.

People looking for a lazy eye cure should give the Bates method a try. After all, it is a very safe treatment that been proven by many case studies as being effective in treating different eye problems.
